what have you done to me?
Your people’s laughter bring me joy
and your children fill me with longing
your old men cause me to ponder
I walk your streets
older than Jerusalem
yet not as inspiriting
your beauty faded
next to a desert rose.

You hunger and thirst
and do not yet know
what for.

If I could
I would embrace you
pour my heart into you
and so enjoy
those delighted smiles
your God.
