From time to time I also enjoy writing short stories. They are all very different. Some even a bit weird. Some are a reflection of the hopeless I have experienced at different times, others reflect my hope and ideals.
We are all a mixed bag. Just look at the book of Psalms. If David was able to express his despair and hope, then I guess we can too. What is important, for David, me, and you – is that we not let the feelings of despair and hopelessness overwhelm us. There is so much more to life than we can see with our eyes. We know this in our hearts – but our feelings get in the way.
I visited an Amish town a few weeks ago and bought a plaque that seemed to say it all:
Faith is not belief without proof,
but trust without reservations.
