Rain followed by sun
The quacking of ducks, calling their little ones
That follow in so many sizes and sounds,
Hard to know how many, or who
is the mother.
Friends both near and far
And a Lord in Heaven, so far, yet always near
And family with all they have to bring
the good things and the bad
the stress and the joy of relationships
covered by Him…
For unexpected bills, bringing problems
only God can solve,
and the assurance of His solutions
answers of growth and glory
reminding yet again
of a Creator never far
from the created.
For answers on the way
Unseen, unknown, unperceived
not yet received, yet there
hidden by human site
revealed in eternal encouragement
no one can steal
from my heart
I am thankful
for a home here
hinting of greater hominess there
for beauty here, dimmed by that greater beauty
and an eternity
to joy in His glory
leaving these overwhelming moments
behind, like a stained napkin
after a meal
Thankful, o so very thankful
for homesickness – not for a home here
but a greater and brighter life there
and the pin-pricks of that life
piecing this one
bringing hope
and a future.
